The Worlds Fair in Shanghai or THE GREAT WAIT

So...I was so excited to get to the worlds fair. I left the hotel early. Took a cab to the fair grounds. I paid about 60 yuen for the cab. I get there and have to walk about 3 blocks to the entrance. At the entrance I wait in line for 45 minutes to get in to the grounds. The Chinese Military and Police are their as protection. I had my bottle of water taken away because you cannot enter with fluids. ( although when you are in the fair grounds you can purchase a bottle for 24 yuen ( about $4). After being poked, prodded, scanned, bag x-rayed and passing through a metal detector I finally got into the fair. I immediately saw the US pavilion. I decided to do the right thing and enter. I waited about 35 minutes in the hot sun and humid air sweating to death only to get into another line. After over an hour and fifteen minutes I finally got into the US pavilion to find it housed 5 video monitors on the wall, some air conditioning and an American College Student with a squeaky voice and a really bad American accent yelling in Chinese. It seemed like she thought she was the host for karaoke night. I am not sure who designed the US building but it was really embarrassing. Shanghai has video monitors every where....I do not know why someone thought 5 tv monitors with images of the US would be so exciting. YOu will see pictures of the lines below. They are all the one line I waited in to see the US pavilion. The Chinese Government is trying to combat the heat by installing misting fans around the fair and the city. They do cool you off a bit but at the same time they make you wetter; and if you wear glasses the mist is a nightmare.
