Ancient LuShan Temple on the summit of Yuelu Mountain
The original temple was built by LiFachong, disciple of BOhdisattva Li Fahu of Dunhuang, in 268 (the 4th year of Emperor Taishi's reign). As the oldest temple of Hunan, it was first named the Wisdom Light Temple, and then was given the present name in the early 7th Centur. With the great contributions of such abbots as Fachong, Fadao, Zhiquan and other, it has risen to fame as "the earliest resort since the 3rd century, and the 1st ritual site in Hunan.
